Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun. This time we’re hitting “George Burns And Gracie Allen” in honor of George Burns Birthday! He was born January 20th 1896 and made it all the way to his 100th birthday. A brilliant comedian who realized he worked best as a straight man to his equally hilarious wife, the legendary Gracie Allen. Later in life, Burns would have a successful film career, winning an Oscar for the 1975 film “The Sunshine Boys.” Enjoy these episodes of classic comedy from one of the greats in old radio! Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a happy Season’s Greetings to you all! This week is a tough one for me as I have a ton to do not related to the wonderful world of movies. I’ll have some reviews on the last releases of the year in the coming weeks along with my top ten films of the year, but to tide you over I thought it would be fun to post a bunch of classic old radio shows with a Christmas theme. Some of the best old radio shows of all time were presented on Christmas and below are a few of my favorites! So grab some eggnog or hot chocolate, snuggle up by the fire with a loved one and enjoy the holidays with these old radio offerings. Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun. We’re sticking with the comedies this week with a couple of vintage episodes of “Fibber McGee & Molly.” Jim and Marian Jordan played the long lasting couple in Wistful Vista, with Fibber telling his tall tales and Molly patiently putting up with them, sometimes letting the air out of his balloon in the process. These two early 1940s episodes feature Harold Peary as The Great Gildersleeve, a character so popular he ended up with his own series, marking the first example of a successful spinoff. Enjoy these two classic comedies from Fibber McGee & Molly, one of the greatest comedy teams of all time! So Sayeth The Kendog!
The Dogcast: It’s Old Radio Time With “The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes
Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun in the form of “Sherlock Holmes.” Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary detective has been featured in books, films, and television, but one of the most popular mediums used was that of old radio. The two episodes I feature here are from November of 1945 and feature the famous team of Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Holmes and Watson. They were probably the most popular duo of actors to play the roles, having essayed the roles on both film and radio. In honor of “Enola Holmes 2” enjoy some classic detective old radio on these newly cold evenings! So Sayeth The Kendog!
The Dogcast: “I Was A Communist For The FBI” delightfully corny old radio fun!
Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun! In honor of the new government-themed David O. Russell film “Amsterdam” I’ve got and old radio program from the early 1950s that’ll probably tickle your fancy. “I Was A Communist For The FBI” starred Dana Andrews as Matt Cvetic, an FBI agent who spent nine years as a Communist spy. It’s goofy propoganda at it’s finest although the rah-rah nature of the old radio show can be a little bitter when you consider that soon Joe McCarthy and his goons in Washington would soon be blacklisting all variety of entertainers for allegedly Communist ties. That said, “I Was A Communist For The FBI” is a fun show that has plenty of entertainment value to this day and, in the overall scheme of things, is a harmless diversion worth listening to.
