The Trailer Dog Park: “The Dark Tower” Is Here!
Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog!
I am a huge Stephen King fan and I count the Dark Tower Cycle among my favorite of his works. I also understand that developing this sprawling saga for other mediums like the movies can be a daunting task. The first film in a presumed franchise, “The Dark Tower” adaptation has been written by Akiva Goldsman and directed by Nikolaj Arcel. Staying true to the books would probably be impossible, so I’ll have to judge the film based primarily on its cinematic merits and whether or not it gets the spirit of the book right.
The trailer is very interesting as it seems to combine elements of several Dark Tower Books in favor if its own thing. Idris Elba makes for a compelling Roland and Matthew McConaughey looks to be a convincing Man in Black. Both exhibit major differences from the books, but the spirit of the characters appears to be intact. Another difference is that the film seems to be telling the story from young Jake Chambers point of view. Whether or not this is a good thing. . .well. . . only time will tell. I have no idea how good the finished film will be, but this trailer has definitely got me interested at least. Watch it below and feel free to comment afterward. Enjoy! So Sayeth The Kendog!
