Howdy Folks!  It’s The Kendog!

Daisy Ridley As Rey In “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”

The winter biggies are beginning their full court press in the form of final trailers.  “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” released it’s second trailer and boy, is it a stunner.  Consider my interest ramped to new all time high for this one.  Meanwhile, the new “Justice League” trailer is intriguing for the lighter comedy aspects (especially Ezra Miller’s Flash) but still shows more of the same from the other trailers.  Looking forward to Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, though.   And finally we have our first look at Josh Boone’s “New Mutants” which is presenting the intriguing idea of the X-Men (variations of them at least) in a haunted laboratory setting.  It’s certainly different than any other mutant movie that’s come before.  Enjoy all of them and feel free to comment below!  So Sayeth The Kendog!

Dog’s Movie House: “Wonder Woman” Truly Wondrous!

Gal Gadot as the Amazonian Princess Diana In “Wonder Woman”

To say the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) has gotten off to a somewhat rocky start is something of an understatement.  While “Man Of Steel,” “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and “Suicide Squad” made oodles of cash but were very divisive in terms of quality and fan satisfaction.  I found that I liked the three films without loving them:  each had some very good qualities but also had some very real problems, most of them revolving around the studio’s insistence on stuffing every film full of references to a larger cinematic universe rather than concentrating on telling a compelling story for each individual film.  Thankfully that inconsistency is at an end with the release of “Wonder Woman,” which serves as a wonderfully exciting origin story and a cinematic coming out for one of the most iconic superheroes of all time. Dog’s Movie House: “Guardians: Vol 2” Kicks Off The Summer Movie Season With A Bang!

Howdy Folks!  It’s The Kendog!

Chris Pratt & Dave Bautista In “Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol 2.”

I’ve been reading the reviews of some of my colleagues regarding Marvel Studios latest release, “Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol 2” and I’m surprised at how many of them seem to say “It’s great . . .but” like some sort of qualification is needed to enjoy a movie.  The biggest complaint I’ve heard is that it’s not the “breath of fresh air” the original was.  Here’s the memo:  “OF COURSE IT ISN’T!”  The is the second film featuring the same characters, similar situations, and all of the things we liked about the first film.  There is obviously going to be a sense of familiarity with the second film.  That doesn’t mean “Vol. 2” can’t be as good its predecessor.  In point of fact both films are equally great, but for very different reasons.  Continue reading

The Trailer Dog Park: “The Last Jedi” Is Here!

Howdy folks!  It’s The Kendog with another edition of the Trailer Dog Park!

Finally we get our first look at “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” released this morning during Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida.   I’ve gotta say I’m pretty excited over what I saw.  This is how you do a teaser trailer:  keep it simple with intriguing visuals and an even more intriguing hook regarding the fate of Luke and Rey.   I love the dark undertones and Luke’s final line at the end.  I have no idea what it means but I can’t wait to find out!   Enjoy the trailer below and feel free to comment.  I’ve also included the latest trailer from “Thor: Ragnarok”  and “It.”  So Sayeth The Kendog! Bradley Whitford And Catherine Keener In “Get Out”

The blahs of winter are now behind us and we finally have some really good movies to see at the local multiplex.  First, one of the better horror films in recent memory from first-time director Jordan Peele and then later we’ve got Hugh Jackman’s final turn as the clawed mutant Wolverine.  Both films are sure to please fans of both genres.
