Dog’s Movie House: “Black Adam” Entertaining If Somewhat Formulaic Comic Book Origin Story!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here after a week of vacation to get right back into the movie mix. Let’s jump right in and talk about “Black Adam,” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s passion project that has taken the better part of a decade to get to the big screen. Is it worth it? The answer is mostly yes, but not the slam dunk it could have been. “Black Adam” tries for a few edgy elements to differentiate itself from other superhero flicks, but the nature of the origin story keeps snapping “Black Adam” back into comfy CGI-kickassery-ville.

Dog’s Movie House: “The Batman” A Bold, Original Take On The Dark Knight!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at one of the most anticipated releases of the year. It’s Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” and although it’s the umpteenth version of the Caped Crusader put to film, this one benefits from being a straight up detective yarn as well as one of the most chilling atmospheric comic book films ever made. Reeves has brought his considerable filmmaking skill to the fore and rendered a film that could have been the offspring of “Batman” and “Seven.” The result is a thrilling, intense, and well-acted superhero film that doesn’t feel like a superhero film at all and sails through its three-hour running time!

Dog’s Movie House: “Spider-Man: No Way Home” Is Probably The Most Fun You’ll Have At The Movies This Year!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog with a look at one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year! It’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and boy, does it deliver the goods. I’ve always identified with Spider-Man more than any other comic book hero because he was someone to which I could relate. Peter Parker (the excellent Tom Holland) is, underneath all of the power and costumes, just a teenage kid trying to get through life. The interesting thing about Peter Parker is that, because of his moral code, having superpowers doesn’t make his life any easier. It actually makes it far more difficult, yet Peter perserveres because of his intelligence and his integrity. “No Way Home” the third in director Jon Watts’ MCU trilogy, is an emotional and exciting leap foward for the web slinger, forcing Peter to make decisions about what kind of hero and man he wants to be.

The Trailer Dog Park: New Batman and Morbius Trailers To Scratch That Vigilante Itch!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with another edition of the Trailer Dog Park. Here we have “The Batman” directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson as a younger incarnation of the Dark Knight. Reeves is an excellent director and the design aesthetic gives the film a horror movie-look. Next we have Jared Leto in “Morbius” about the living vampire. This one has more vampire action and some humor including a nod to “Venom.” Both films are coming out early next year and I for one am anticipating both. Enjoy the two trailers and feel free to comment either below or on my Facebook page. So Sayeth The Kendog!
