Dog’s Movie House: “The Banshees Of Inisherin” A Wonderful Look At Ireland And A Soured Friendship!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at a wonderful film from writer/director Martin McDonagh (“In Bruges”). It’s titled “The Banshees Of Inisherin” and the setup is deceptively simple: Friends Padraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson) having a parting of the ways when Colm simply informs Padraic that he simply “doesn’t like him anymore” and wants nothing to do with him. Padraic, a decent but somewhat slow fellow, doesn’t understand why the sudden change in his friend and goes about trying to repair a friendship Colm isn’t interested in having anymore. The disagreement escalates gradually until extreme actions are taken by both sides to settle the matter.

The Dogcast: It’s Old Radio Time With “The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun in the form of “Sherlock Holmes.” Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary detective has been featured in books, films, and television, but one of the most popular mediums used was that of old radio. The two episodes I feature here are from November of 1945 and feature the famous team of Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Holmes and Watson. They were probably the most popular duo of actors to play the roles, having essayed the roles on both film and radio. In honor of “Enola Holmes 2” enjoy some classic detective old radio on these newly cold evenings! So Sayeth The Kendog!

Dog’s Movie House: “Enola Holmes 2” A Worthy Successor To Original Film!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at “Enola Holmes 2” a follow up to Netflix’s 2020 hit starring Millie Bobby Brown as the younger, yet no less intelligent sister of the legendary Sherlock Holmes. After her successful first case, Enola opens up her own detective agency and is quickly involved in locating a missing girl from the one of the lower classes of London. As smart as she is, Enola lacks the experience of her older brother and soon finds herself in over her head, leading to an entertaining team up between famous siblings. It also means we get to see a lot more of Henry Cavill’s Sherlock Holmes.

Dog’s Movie House: “Wendell & Wild” Delightful Animated Spookiness From Jordan Peele And Henry Selick!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at a delightfully creepy bit of stop-motion animation by the creator of “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” It’s called “Wendell & WIld” and it’s about a young teenager named Kat (Lyric Ross) who, after losing her parents in a tragic car crash, finds herself a rebellious teenager and transferred to a private school in her hometown. While navigating the usual problems of the typical teenager, she finds she’s attracted the attention of of two demon brothers, Wendell (Keegan Michael Key) and Wild (Jordan Peele) who, in an attempt to to get out of dutch with their father Buffalo Belzer (Ving Rhames), come to the mortal world to fulfill there dream of opening a carnival of their own.

Dog’s Movie House: “Prey For The Devil” Decent Entry Into Exorcism Films, But Can’t Hold A Candle To The Original!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at “Prey For The Devil” and exorcism horror film by Daniel Stamm from a script by Robert Zappia. “Prey For The Devil” tells the story of of Sister Ann (Jacqeuline Byars) a young nun whose tragic past instills within an interest in exorcism and demonic possession. She attends a religious college/hospital in Boston where the male clergy train in the rights of exorcism. When Ann, who serves as a nurse for patients who are believed to be demonically possessed, encounters a supernatural threat from her past, she is authorized by Father Quinn (Colin Salmon) to become the first ever female student of exorcism. She and her colleagues are forced to confront a tremendous evil inhabiting a little girl named Natalie (Posy Taylor), fighting not only to save her life, but her immortal soul.
