I know it’s a big “duh” but social media is everywhere, shaping our opinions until it often seems as though we have no valid train of thought unless it’s first filtered through the online pipeline.  The court of public opinion holds almost, if not more, sway than the actual court of law.   The #MeToo movement is a perfect example of this.  In the world of cinema, the online component has played a role in many thrillers, with the Unfriended series being the latest example.  However, Aneesh Chaganty’s “Searching” is a different and delightful animal altogether.   Continue reading

As more an more of the World War II generation are leaving us it will be up to historians and, yes, filmmakers to keep an accounting of that devastating time period so history doesn’t repeat itself.  Adolph Eichmann was a true monster in human skin: on of the primary architects of Hitler’s Final Solution and thus responsible for the Holocaust.   There have been stories about Eichmann brought to the big screen before, but “Operation Finale” deserves to be seen because it demonstrates quite effectively the banality of evil in a way that audiences may find disappointing if they don’t know what they’re looking for.

Howdy Folks!  It’s The Kendog Some Micro reviews for the last two weeks!

 

Spike Lee is back with probably one his most compelling features in years and Jason Statham takes on a giant shark!  Tom Cruise is ruling the box office again with another addition to the Mission: Impossible franchise and Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon are teaming up for a buddy spy comedy.  It’s been a full last two weeks at the theaters and as we head into August it’s time to see just what’s worth watching! Sorry for the lateness of the output, but I have just recently returned from a glorious two week vacation in Maui with my lovely bride of 20 years!  Although I saw movies I didn’t think about a keyboard for a single minute of those two weeks.  With that in mind, some of the biggest movies of the year happened to come out during that time, so I’m gonna give you the quick and dirty on which films to see, with a continuing promise to be a little more on the ball when updating content!
