Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun! It’s Christmas time again and I thought it would be fun if I added a couple of holiday-themed episodes of some classic old radio shows. In this case I’ve a Christmas episode of “The Six-Shooter” starring Jimmy Stewart as Britt Ponsett and an episode of “Life With Luigi” with Luigi Basco playing Santa Claus. Both put a great holiday spin on two great shows. Enjoy while decorating the tree and wrapping presents on a cold winter day! So Sayeth The Kendog!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a happy Season’s Greetings to you all! This week is a tough one for me as I have a ton to do not related to the wonderful world of movies. I’ll have some reviews on the last releases of the year in the coming weeks along with my top ten films of the year, but to tide you over I thought it would be fun to post a bunch of classic old radio shows with a Christmas theme. Some of the best old radio shows of all time were presented on Christmas and below are a few of my favorites! So grab some eggnog or hot chocolate, snuggle up by the fire with a loved one and enjoy the holidays with these old radio offerings. Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog with some more old radio listening fun. Because Pat Walsh and I were recently discussing western movies on his show, I thought I’d give you a taste of probably the best western radio program during the 1950s. “Gunsmoke” was a staple of old radio programming in the 1950s and was so popular it spawned one of the most popular television westerns, a program that ran twenty years. The tales of Dodge City and Marshall Matt Dillon were much more adult and weighty than most of the radio westerns of the day which were aimed more at the kiddie-folk. Great programs, performances (particularly by William Conrad as the deep-voiced Dillon) and some really solid scripts make this series a must listen. The Dogcast: Some Western Old Radio Fun In Honor Of “Cry Macho!”
Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog with some classic old radio again. This time it’s a couple of episodes of the popular radio series “Have Gun, Will Travel” starring John Dehner as Paladin, a gun for higher based out of San Francisco. The show was popular enough that it made a successful transition to television. While not as consistently excellent as “Gunsmoke” it’s still a terrific show. The Dogcast: “Gunsmoke” The Best Western Program Of The Old Radio Age!
Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun. This has become a popular feature of the sight and I enjoy providing you with entertainment from radio’s Golden Age! This week we’re featuring a couple of episodes from that classic western “Gunsmoke.” The radio version featured William Conrad as Marshall Dillon. The stories in this program were much more mature than the prevailing western programs of the day. The two I have for you illustrate this mature mode of storytelling common with “Gunsmoke” These two episodes are both from February of 1954! Enjoy and feel free to comment below!
