This time we’re hitting up Emily Blunt’s latest, “The Girl On The Train” along with the Nate Parker slave drama “Birth Of A Nation.”  Both of these films are fairly well made but at the same time both are missing something that could truly make them great.  Blunt is the main reason to see “The Girl On The Train,” and those looking for some cathartic revenge should find something to enjoy in the drama about slave rebellion leader Nat Turner!  Listen to the full Dogcast below and feel free to watch the assorted clips of both films afterward.  Don’t forget to comment below!

The Dogcast: “The Blair Witch,” “Snowden” Lead The Way!

Howdy Folks!  Welcome to another edition of the Dogcast!

Today I’m talking about “Snowden” and “The Blair Witch!”  “Snowden” is an interesting flick that may be a little too slanted in the favor of its title character, but that is to be expected in an Oliver Stone film.  Joseph Gordon-Levitt is fantastic and the main reason to watch the film.  Meanwhile, “The Blair Witch” is a disappointing sequel seventeen years in the making.  The novelty of the found-footage subgenre of filmmaking has lost its luster and this film is all buildup with no payoff.  Listen to the full cast below, feel free to watch the clips afterward and always feel free to comment.  Enjoy the Dogcast and we’ll be talking to you soon!  So Sayeth The Kendog! Just got back from watching “Mechanic: Ressurection” and found it to be a serviceable, if unexceptional, action movie.  Statham is good as always, but he can do this kind of stuff in his sleep, and the direction by Dennis Gansel is somewhat flat at times.  As I was watching I found myself thinking of the true classics of action cinema, movies that can transport you with awesome set pieces and incredible choreography.  So for you, my dear readers, I’ve come up with a list of five (for the time being) of the greatest action movies of all time.  Feel free to comment and add some of your own!  So Sayeth The Kendog! The Dogcast: Woody Allen Takes On The Suicide Squad!

Howdy folks!  It’s The Kendog with another edition of the Dogcast!

It looks like we’ve got a choice at the movie theaters this week.  You can either see the latest from an iconic director or brave the crowds to see the hotly anticipated new comic book extravaganza “Suicide Squad.”  Both of them have their merits, in this reviewers humble opinion, but neither qualify as masterpieces, either.  In any case, please don’t choose the previously unmentioned option number three: a hideous piece of cinema called “Nine Lives”  It’s so bad, I didn’t even bother to include it in the Dogcast.  Don’t let the cast, including Kevin Spacey, Christopher Walken, and Jennifer Garner fool you into thinking you should invest one stinking penny into this piece of excrement.  Don’t even watch it when it comes on free television:  It will rob you of your will to live!   If you can avoid that, you’re probably in for a pretty good time at the movies.  Enjoy the Dogcast and the trailers below and, as always, feel free to comment!  So Sayeth The Kendog!  Continue reading
