Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a tribute to the late writer/director Chuck Russell, a man responsible for many of my 1980’s cinematic memories as a child. He passed today at the age of 74, but he left behind an impressive body of work! He first came to our attention for penning the underrated sci-fi film “Dreamscape” with Dennis Quaid. A few years later he made his directoral debut with “A NIghtmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors” considered by many to be the best “Nighmare” movie other than the first. He then did the highly underrated remake of “The Blob” in 1988, but his biggest success came in 1994 when he directed Jim Carrey in the effects-filled comedy “The Mask” He followed that up with Schwarzenegger’s “Eraser” and gave Dwayne Johnson his first starring role in the successful “Scorpion King!” Russell was responsible for some seriously iconic eighties horror and he will definitely be missed!
