Dog’s Movie House: “Kung Fu Panda 4” A Worthy Addition To The Franchise!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here and I’ve always been a fan of the Kung Fu Panda series of films because I’ve always enjoyed their enthusiasm and respect for the classic martial arts movies they’re honoring. Now over the years there has been a little bit of dimishing story quality, but not enough to justify ditching the series. I’m pleased to report that “Kung Fu Panda 4” and its continuing growth of lead character Po (Jack Black) is still a beautifully animated entertaining romp with some great work from its A-List vocal cast!

Dog’s Movie House: Latest “Hunger Games” film skillfully done but lacking something!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at the latest chapter in the Hunger Games franchise. It’s called “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” and takes place 64 years before the events of the first film. Here we see the rise of the young Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), the struggling son of the inventor of the Hunger Games. Now living on his late father’s name, Snow attempts to win the big monetary prize at the University by taking advantage of the new rules for the 10th Annual Hunger Games and sponsoring one of the “tributes.” He catches the attention of of the Games lead designer Dr. Gaul (Viola Davis) and the ire of the dean of the university (a great Peter Dinklage). His ideas on glamorizing the tributes and enhancing the watchability of the Games conflicts with the feelings he has for his tribute, a fiery young singer Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler). His feelings for Baird threaten to ruin his rise to the top of the capital.

Dog’s Movie House: “Air” A Crackerjack Tale Of Nike’s Signing Of Michael Jordan A Must-See!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog with one of the best movies of the young year so far! It’s called “Air” and it details Nike’s courting and eventual signing of a just-drafted Michael Jordan to the shoe contract that would make history. The story revolves around Sonny Vaccaro (a potbellied Matt Damon), a consultant for the basketball shoe division at Nike in 1984. At this time Nike was known for its running shoes and little else as they trailed behind Addidas and Converse in the competitive basketball shoe market. Sonny knows basketball and wants to take a chance to using their entire budget to sign one player: Michael Jordan, who at this point hasn’t even stepped on an NBA court yet. The big problem: Michael wants nothing to do with Nike, so it’s up to Sonny to convince his boss Phil Knight (Ben Affleck) and public relations guru Rob Strasser (the always reliable Jason Bateman) to take a chance that could either make them or break them as a company!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at a fabulous historical epic from director Gina Prince-Bythewood called “The Woman King.” This films stars Viola Davis as Nanisca, the leader of an all-female African army known as the Agojie, an elite fighting force defending the West African kingdom of Dahomey. A new king (a terrific John Boyega) has decided to lead the Dahomey into the future.
