Dog’s Movie House: “Renfield” A Gory, Funny Homage To Universal Horror And Therapy Films!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at “Renfield” a new horror comedy starring Nicholas Hoult as Renfield, the insect eating familiar of none other than Count Dracula (Nicolas Cage). After serving the Count for over a century, Renfield decides to make a clean break from what is quite literally a toxic relationship. Taking place in present-day New Orleans, “Renfield” features the title character attempting to connect via therapy support groups in an attempt to connect with the human race. After saving the life of a cop (Aukwafina) in a popular bar, Renfield finds himself questioning everything he thought he knew about life and attempts to free himself from the Count’s influence. But Dracula has other ideas and Renfield has to use his newfound confidence to protect his new friends from the vengeful vampire!

The Kenblog: Great Movie Vampires!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a list honoring on of the most popular movie monsters of all time: The Vampire! Vamps have been a movie staple since the silent era and have maintained an enduring popularity to the present day. The latest take on the Dracula myth “The Invitation” has just hit theaters and although the story is intriguing, it’s one of the lesser vampire efforts. Dog’s Movie House: “Day Shift” A Fun, Urban Spin On The Vampire Genre!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at the Netflix Original film “Day Shift” featuring Jamie Fox as Bud, a vampire hunter in Los Angeles who is looking for a big kill (the fangs sell for big money!) He needs the big score to keep his ex-wife (Meagan Good) and precious daughter (Zion Broadnax) from moving to Florida. The problem is that he’s a little too good at his job and he’s been kicked out of the Hunter’s Union (really?) and now needs to get back in to rake in the big bucks. With a little help from legendary hunter Big John (Snoop Dogg, doing his Snoop Dogg thing) he gets a shot, but it’s a probationary one. He’s accompanies by Seth (the scene stealing Dave Franco), a desk jockey whose job is to make sure Bud doesn’t break the rules (Spoiler alert: he does!). It’ll take all of Bud’s abilities along with a little help from his friends to keep a powerful Uber-Vamp named Audrey (Karla Souza) from taking over Southern California and then (cue dramatic music). . .THE WORLD!
