Radio Daze: Some Classic Jack Benny For Your Old Radio Listening Enjoyment!
Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with another edition of Radio Daze. It’s no secret that Jack Benny is my favorite radio comedian of all time. I love every iteration of this show, but folks who know of the Jack Benny program are pretty much familiar with the Lucky Strike program that ran in the 1940s. In fact, Jack started on the air in 1932 and had a very popular run with Jello as a sponsor during the mid to late 1930s. This edition of Radio Daze features two porgrams from February of 1939. The first one features another episode of the long-running comic feud between Jack and radio comedian Fred Allen. The second episode features Benny and his sick polar bear Carmichael (voiced by the incomparable Mel Blanc) It’s a great episode featuring a fine performance by Eddie Anderson as Benny’s valet Rochester. Enjoy these two classic old radio episodes and enjoy the cool fall weather! So Sayeth The Kendog!
Radio Daze: Some Jack Benny For Your Old Radio Listening Pleasure!
Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with another edition of Radio Daze in which I get to share my life long passion for old time radio with you! This edition features one of my favorite comedy shows, the Jack Benny Program. Jack’s program is still consistently funny after all of these years and is a masterclass in comedy writing and timing. Jack Benny was a master of the perfect pause and could get a laugh without saying a word. He was also very generous to his cast, not caring who got the biggest laugh as long as one was to be had. These two Jack Benny programs are from the 1940’s during the heyday of his Lucky Strike sponsorship, which lasted on radio from 1944 to 1955. “LSMFT, Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco.” Jack Benny and Lucky Strike formed one of the most profitable partnerships in old radio history. Enjoy these two classic programs during this cold and stormy weekend! So Sayeth The Kendog!

Continuing my features on old radio programs I’ve got a couple for you from my favorite comedy show of all time. These two come from the Jack Benny program in late 1945! The first involves Jack mistakenly believing he’s been invited to movie star Ronald Coleman’s house for dinner. The second features Jack returning the favor and featuring one of the funniest English butlers you’ve ever heard. Enjoy these episodes and feel free to comment below or at my Facebook page!
