Dog’s Movie House: “The Nun II” an improvement over the first film, but still not quite on the level of James Wan’s Conjuring films!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at “The Nun II” a sequel to the very popular “The Nun” featuring the villainous demon from “The Conjuring 2.” The first film wasn’t terribly scary, but had a nice “Hammer Horror” feel that led to a pretty spooky good time. This new films follows a short time after the events of the first and is not only more narratively cohesive but also scarier, although many of these frights come in the form of numerous jump scares. Still, it’s a good time at the movies, especially for fans of the Conjuring Universe specifically and of horror films in general.

Dog’s Movie House: “Missing” A Unique, Involving Thriller!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at the new thriller “Missing” from the makers of a similar thriller a few years ago called “Searching.” In fact, “Missing” is a direct sequel to the former although it’s basically a stand alone story. Storm Reid plays June, an eighteen year old who’s mother Grace (Nia Long) disappears after heading to Columbia with boyfriend Kevin (Ken Leung). June, who has a strained relationship with her mother, is forced to reevaluate everything when she begins to investigate Grace’s disappearance. With the help of a part time worker in Columbia named Javi (the excellent Joaquim de Almeida), she finds herself involved in a mystery that puts her very life in danger.
