Dog’s Movie House: “Sinners” A Stunning Horror Film That’s So Much More!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at one of the best movies of the young year so far. It’s called “Sinners” and it represents a career best from Writer/director Ryan Coogler who is quickly becoming one of the best directors in cinema. This is also the first time Coogler is working from an original story, having directed fact-based dramas (“Fruitville Station”), an extension to a legendary franchise (“Creed”) and two enormously popular and well-received Black Panther comic book films. Judging by the quality of “Sinners” Coogler should direct original stories more often. With “Sinners” Coogler’s foray into horror and history serves as one of the best genre films I’ve had the pleasure to see!

Dog’s Movie House: “The Holdovers” One Of The Best Movies Of The Year!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here and it’s nice to see Alexander Payne return to form after the ambitious but uneven “Downsizing.” And boy howdy is he back in a big way, reuniting with his “Sideways” star Paul Giamatti to come up with a fresh take on a familiar tale. “The Holdovers” is a story we’ve seen a million times before, but in Payne’s hands with such a talented cast, the story feels like something entirely original!

Dog’s Movie House: What To Watch This Week!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog with a look at some recently released films, a couple of which qualify as damned fine entertainment. The other is Robert Downey Jr’s latest, but the calamity that is “Dolittle” is not his fault. The two earlier films are the Oscar contender “1917” and the long-in-gestation threequel to the Bad Boys franchise!
