The Dogcast: Some Old Radio Intrigue For Your Listening Pleasure!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio programs for your listening pleasure. In honor of the assassin thriller “The Protege” I have a couple more episodes of “I Was A Communist For The FBI,” a cold war program featuring Dana Andrews as Matt Cvetic, a sleeper agent for the FBI during the Cold War. Based on “real case files” this program is goofy fun in all the right ways and Andrews is terrific in the lead role. Enjoy and feel free to comment below or on my Facebook page. The Dogcast: The Pat Walsh Show – August 6th, 2021!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog with another trip down the 3rd hour rabbit hole of the Pat Walsh Show. This week Pat’s back and we get to talk about everything from my continuing weight loss (exciting for me, you probably feel somewhat ambivalent about it, heh), to our experiences with drive in movie theaters and of course the good old days of cinema. I also get to promote my website and let all of you know about the old radio programs I regularly feature on the site. Oh yeah, we also talk about the new Suicide Squad film, which is miles better than the original film that came out in 2016! Enjoy the podcast of the Pat Walsh Show and feel free to comment below or on my Facebook Page! And once again thanks to Pat Walsh, Mark “The Voiceguy” McKee, and the lovely and talented Kendall Tobe for letting me be a part of a great listening experience. So Sayeth The Kendog!

The Dogcast: Some “X-Minus One” Science Fiction Old Radio

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun. It’s really entertaining to see what people in the 1940’s and 50’s thought of what the future would hold. Most of it didn’t happen the way those futurists intended, but some of the ideas are still entertainingly trippy. One of the best sci-fi radio programs was “X-Minus One” a radio show with high production values and some very interesting stories. I’ve got two for you hear, one of which “A Gun For Dinosaur” is one of my favorite early time travel stories. Enjoy and feel free to comment below or on my Facebook page. So Sayeth The Kendog!

The Dogcast: More Halloween Old Radio Fun!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog back with some more old radio scares in time for Halloween. This week we’re gonna go with a couple of classics from the long running radio drama Suspense. The first is “Flesh Peddler” featuring DeForest Kelley. That’s right: Bones McCoy in a tale about a ventriloquist and his unusual dummy. Next we have “The Body Snatchers” a 1942 tale of grave robbing in England based on a true story. Two great thrillers in time for Halloween. Enjoy and comment either below or at my Facebook page! The Dogcast: “Abbott & Costello Bring Dracula Along For The Ride!”

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with another couple of old time radio programs for your listening pleasure. As a fan of all sorts of entertainment, I have a special place in my heart for the “theater of the mind.” I know it’s hard to believe, but there was a time when television didn’t exist and radio was the entertainment medium of the masses. My grandfather grew up listening the the classic broadcasts and passed that love on to me. When I was about eleven years old he gave me a tape of the “Who’s On First” program from Abbott & Costello and I was absolutely hooked! This wasn’t just the classic routine but the entire program featuring three segments, two musical numbers, and ads from their sponsor Camel Cigarettes. Jack Benny has since supplanted the comic duo as my favorite radio comedian, but Abbott & Costello will always be my first, primarily because those two were able to strengthen the already wonderful bond I had with my grandfather. I’m also throwing in a classic Abbott & Costello program featuring a very funny performance from Dracula himself, Bela Legosi. The three legends are clearly having a ball here as Legosi successfully lampoons his greatest creation. Enjoy the programs and feel free to comment below or at my Facebook page!
