The Kenblog: Remembring Ned Beatty

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a brief remembrance of noted character actor Ned Beatty, who died earlier this week at the age of 83, leaving behind a tremendous legacy of wonderful character performances. Of course after years on the stage he made one of the most memorable cinematic debuts in history as a rape victim in 1972’s “Deliverance.” He was also Oscar nominated for “Network” appeared in “All The President’s Men” and Robert Altman’s “Nashville.” He was also known as the clumsy Otis in the first two “Superman” films.

He also worked in television, appearing on dozens of shows, most notably “Rosanne” and “Homicide: Life On The Street.” He was also wonderful as the voice of Lotso, the cuddly teddy bear with a mean streak in the fantastic “Toy Story 3.” The entirety of his career cannot be accurately expressed here, either in quantity or quality, but below are some of his best performances both on TV and in film.
