Dog’s Movie House – “The Accountant 2” Is A Thoroughly Entertaining Sequel To Surprise 2016 Hit!
Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at “The Accountant 2” the followup to director Gavin O’Connor’s successful 2016 film “The Accountant” featuring Ben Affleck as Christain Wolff, a solitary man who’s great with numbers and manages to thrive despite (or maybe because) he exists on the spectrum. As a high-functioning autistic man, Wolff is a unique type of hero, representing a different type of marginalized individual. After “The Accountant” did decent business and became an even bigger hit on video and streaming, we now have “The Accountant 2” which follows Christian as he reunites with his estranged hit man brother Braxton (Jon Bernthal) to solve a mystery involving a missing child, trafficking and immigration. Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here and I must admit that I’m a big Kenneth Branagh fan, both as an actor and director! As a director, Branagh has a style that is all his own, whether it is directing huge Shakespearean adaptations or Marvel Comic Book movies, the man knows his way around the camera. First he started with the most famous of her works with “Murder On The Orient Express” followed by the slightly less well known “A Death On The Nile.” Both were successful enough to merit a third film. This one’s called “A Haunting In Venice” and is actually the best of the bunch, a twisty, turning thriller that clearly leans into its supernaturual elements. The result is a mystery/horror hybrid that proves to be quite entertaining.

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at the new thriller “Missing” from the makers of a similar thriller a few years ago called “Searching.” In fact, “Missing” is a direct sequel to the former although it’s basically a stand alone story. Storm Reid plays June, an eighteen year old who’s mother Grace (Nia Long) disappears after heading to Columbia with boyfriend Kevin (Ken Leung). June, who has a strained relationship with her mother, is forced to reevaluate everything when she begins to investigate Grace’s disappearance. With the help of a part time worker in Columbia named Javi (the excellent Joaquim de Almeida), she finds herself involved in a mystery that puts her very life in danger.
