Radio Daze: Some More Christmas Old Time Radio Comedy For You And Yours This Holiday Season!

Howdy Folks! It’s time for another Holiday Edition of Radio Daze! Since I missed last week, I’m presenting four old radio programs instead of the usual two. We’re sticking with the comedies this time, with the first two being holiday episodes of the Abbott & Costello Show. One of them is from December of 1943, the other a year later. Abbott & Costello were among the first radio talents I ever listened too, introduced to me by my grandfather. They were very funny when they were on, but sometimes funnier when they had to verbally dance when the jokes weren’t landing. Not always consistent but mostly very funny, their delivery is like no other. Enjoy!

Radio Daze: “The Cisco Kid” Brings You Back To The Days Of The Old West!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with another edition of Radio Daze! This time we’re going to the westerns, featuring the popular comedy western known as “The Cisco Kid” Known as the Robin Hood Of The Old West, Cisco and his portly but loyal partner Pancho traveled the west, righting wrongs and finding adventure. Interestingly enough, the original character developed by O Henry was a sadistic criminal, but was changed for a more heroic persona. Jack Mathers was known as the voice of Cisco, while legendary voice actor Mel Blanc was one of several who voiced Pancho. These two episodes are from 1952 and are classics of the genre! Enjoy!

Featuring the great Elliot Lewis as The Tall Man and all of the other supporting performers like Bill Goodwin, Meredith Wilson, and Mel Blanc, these two programs are classicss of the Old Radio Age! Enjoy! So Sayeth The Kendog!

The Dogcast: Mel Blanc At His Best On His Own Show!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun. In honor of the Tom & Jerry flick making its way to HBO Max today, I thought I’d throw in some classic Mel Blanc. Blanc, of course, didn’t voice Tom & Jerry, but he was the legendary voice of the Warner Brothers cartoons. Not only that, but he was a busy performer on various radio shows, including Jack Benny, Burns & Allen, The Judy Canova Show, and Abbott & Costello. He also had his own show for about a year that was really popular. He had to quit because he was just too busy with other projects. Here are a couple of shows for your listening pleasure. (Trust me, it’s more enjoyable than the new Tom & Jerry movie). Enjoy and feel free to comment here or on my Facebook page. So Sayeth The Kendog!
