Dog’s Movie House: “The Creator” Another Winner From Gareth Edwards!
Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at a delightfully entertaining piece of science fiction from director Gareth Edwards, the director of the hit Star Wars film “Rogue One.” The one’s an original story called “The Creator” and it involves a former soldier named Joshua (John David Washington) who is encouraged to help the human military in their fight against rogue AI. Any form of Artificial Intelligence is banned in America after an AI attack ten years prior resulted in the nuclear destruction of Los Angeles. Joshua is tasked with finding an ultimate weapon that could turn the tide of the war for the AI, but things take a turn when he finds that said weapon is a cybernetic child (Madeleine Una Voyles). Changing circumstances necessitate that Joshua protect the little girl (who he names Alphie) and both end up being hunted by both man and machine.

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at David O. Russell’s latest, “Amsterdam,” for which he has assembled an all-star cast. Russell, known for Oscar nominated work such as “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle” writes and directs a tale set during and just after World War I. Three friends, two soldiers and a nurse, played by Christian Bale, John David Washington, and Margot Robbie, bond during their time together in Amsterdam. Separating after returning to the states, the three are reunited when Bale’s Burt (now a fringe doctor treating veterans) and Washington’s Harold (the lawyer helping him out) are called upon to investigate the death of their old unit commander, a respected general who died under mysterious circumstances. This death leads to a spiraling mystery involving rich families, powerful political cabals, and an attempt at facists to take over the United States government.

It’s called “Malcom & Marie” and features two tour de force performances from John David Washington and Zendaya as a couple who hash out a bunch of relationship issues the night after Washington’s character, an up-and-coming filmmaker, has had his passion project premiere to rave reviews.

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at Christopher Nolan’s latest mind bending action film, “Tenet.” Nolan is one of the few directors today who can get butts in the seats based on his name alone. Movies like “Interstellar,” “Inception,” and of course, The Dark Knight trilogy ensure that whenever Nolan releases as film it serves as a worldwide event. Now, with movie theaters struggling in an attempt to reopen, a Christopher Nolan film carries more importance than ever. The question that needs to be answered now is: Is “Tenet” worth the hullaballoo?
