The Dogcast: Some Jack Benney Holiday Shows For Your Old Radio Pleasure!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here and since the holidays are upon us I though it would be fun to feature some holiday-themed Jack Benny shows for your Old Radio listening pleasure! Jack and the gang are my favorite radio performers and these two episodes don’t disappoint. Enjoy the holiday shows and I hope you have a great holiday season! So Sayeth The Kendog!

The Dogcast: Some Classic Jack Benny For Your Old Time Radio Enjoyment!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with my favorite radio comedian off all time! I’ve got two episodes of the Jack Benny Program from the early forties when Benny was sponsored by none other than Grape Nuts and Grape Nuts Flakes cereal. This is some quality comedy folks from one of the best ensemble casts in the business. Enjoy the shows and have a terrific weekend! So Sayeth The Kendog!

The Dogcast: Phil Harris/Alice Faye To Brighten Your Old Radio Fun!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with one of my favorite old radio comedies. The Phil Harris/Alice Faye show was a spinoff from The Jack Benny Program. Phil Harris is best known as Benny’s boozy band leader and he was so popular he got his own show sponsored by Fitch Shampoo (appropriately called “The Fitch Bandwagon”) It was a slice of life show that feature Phil, his movie star wife Alice Faye, their children and a whole cast of characters. Highlights were Elliot Lewis as Phil’s buddy Frank Remley and Walter Tetley as mishevious grocery boy Julius. These two shows are from the 1947 season of “The Fitch Bandwagon” but in 1948 they’d change sponsors and work for Rexall Drugs. Later in the run the show was sponsored by RCA Victor. Enjoy these two episodes and hopefully they bring a smile to your face. So Sayeth The Kendog!

The Dogcast: Some “Suspense” For Your Old Radio Listening Pleasure!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio goodness! This week I thought it would be fun to present a couple of episodes from the legendary series “Suspense.” Starting in the 1940s and running all the way into the 1960s, making it the premiere mystery series on the radio. Luminaries such as Orson Welles, Agnes Morehead, and even Jack Benny took their turns on the famous series and it has a number of classic episodes. Enjoy these two and feel free to comment either below or on my Facebook page! So Sayeth The Kendog!

The Dogcast: “It’s A Wonderful Life” On Radio For Your Christmas Pleasure!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun. In honor of the Christmas holiday I thought I’d give to you fine folks a couple of radio versions of the classic Frank Capra film “It’s A Wonderful Life.” The Jimmy Stewart-led classic is now a staple of holiday programming and it’s message of hope is more relevant than ever. Here I have two versions. The first features Jack Benny and his gang doing their slightly off-kilter version of “It’s A Wonderful Life” back in 1947. The second is is a Screen Director’s Playhouse version of the film from 1949 starring Jimmy Stewart in the radio version of one of his most famous screen roles. It also features Arthur Q. Bryan as Clarence The Angel. Good Stuff. So enjoy and Merry Christmas to everyone! So Sayeth The Kendog!
