Dog’s Movie House: “Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny” A Terrific Send Off For The World’s Most Famous Fictional Archeologist!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at the fifth film in one of my favorite series. “Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny” marks Harrison Ford’s final outing as the whip cracking adventurer and boy does he go out on a high note. Director James Mangold (“Logan”) takes reins from longtime director Steven Spielberg and manages to create a film that manages to honor what came before while branching off in new directions, especially for Indy. The result is a film that I absolutely loved and that others my have to see a few times before really feeling the amount of emotional resonance on display here!

The Trailer Dog Park: New trailers of “Indiana Jones” and “Fast X!”

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some good news for filmgoers. It’s looking like 2023 is shaping up to be a good year for summer blockbuster cinema. Almost like the pandemic didn’t happen, right? What I’m looking forward most to is my favorite cinematic, whip-wielding archeologist Indiana Jones. Despite being 80 years young, Harrison Ford is still bringing it as Indy. With James Mangold at the helm, “Indiana Jones and The Dial Of Destiny” looks like a terrific film. Also on the docket is the tenth installment of the increasingly over-the-top Fast And The Furious franchise. Believe it or not, this installment looks like a less goofy version of the previous film. It’s still over-the-top but in a more grounded way. (I know that doesn’t make much sense, but I think you’ll understand after you see the trailer!) Enjoy the trailers! So Sayeth The Kendog!

Dog’s Movie House: “Blade Runner 2049″ A Masterpiece, But Not For Everyone!”

Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” from 1982 has transformed from a misunderstood underperformer at the box office at the time of its release to a science fiction classic almost four decades later.  There are several different versions of the film to view, discuss and dissect with friends or foes, and the film’s look is still beautiful all these long years later.   But make no mistake, “Blade Runner” is not a slam-bang action flick:  it takes it’s time to tell the story and those who find themselves disinterested in said story will find the film to be slow and uninvolving.  The same can be said for Denis Villeneuve’s follow-up, “Blade Runner 2049.”   Continue reading

It’s finally here. . .and it doesn’t disappoint!  After the underwhelming response to the prequel trilogy and 32 years after we last encountered Han, Luke, and Leia in a galaxy far, far away,  J.J. Abrams has reinvigorated the most popular space opera in history with a thrilling, emotional, and action packed start of a new trilogy.  Abrams has made a film that can be enjoyed by all fans, new and old alike, and his craftsmanship and attention to drama are wondrous to behold.  Continue reading
