Dog’s Movie House: “Space Jam: A New Legacy” Overstuffed Yet Fitfully Entertaining Animated Film!
Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at “Space Jam: A New Legacy” in which Lebron James plays a basketball game with the Looney Tunes, including Bugs Bunny, against a team of digitized NBA and WNBA stars working for a rogue AI named Al G. Rhythm (Don Cheadle). Two things to get out of the way: this film is better than the original “Space Jam” in 1996 (although that’s a pretty low bar to clear) and this review is going to be colored a bit by my perceptions of the Looney Tunes which is probably a product of my age. That said, this is a busy film that has a few fitful moments of humor and heart but is way too stuffed with Warner Bros. catelogue of IPs to work as an entirely coherent film.

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at the latest release from HBO Max. Steven Soderbergh returns to the arena of crime capers with the twisting, turning “No Sudden Move.” While it’s a bit grittier and has more on it’s mind from a social standpoint, this film shares a lot of DNA with Soderbergh’s entertaining remake of the Rat Pack classic “Ocean’s 11.” Ad to mix some wonderful performances from a who’s-who of character actors and “No Sudden Move” is the perfect antidote to the explosion filled fantasy and super-hero films that fill the summer release slate!
