Dog’s Movie House: “Tron: Ares” A “Meh” Return To The Grid!”

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with an admittedly belated look at the latest Tron film. It’s amazing that Disney identifies the world of Tron as a franchise: in 43 years we’ve had a total of three films and this latest film seems to almost entirely disconnected to the rest of the original story. “Tron: Ares” features very pretty visuals, some interesting ideas that aren’t adequately explored, and a killer soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails, but as a franchise entry it fails to either advance the story or provide an engaging, entertaining cinematic experience!

Dog’s Movie House: Pixar’s “Elio” Will Steal Your Heart!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here and all of you know what a fan of Pixar I am! It’s been thirty years since the arrival of “Toy Story” and no animation studio has been as consistent as Pixar in terms of quality. They’ve had a few misses such as “Good Dinosaur” and “Lightyear” but for the most part Pixar has a reputation of animated excellence unrivaled by almost any studio, save maybe Studio Ghibli. Their latest effort is a charming, beautifully animated tale called “Elio” about a young boy struggling to find his place in the world who finds that his true place just may be beyond this world. “Elio” is an endlessly creative feature with bright colors, a fascinating idea about alien life, and an emotional family story that will have you reaching for your hankie more than once!

The Kenblog: Gina Carano’s Exit From “The Mandalorian” Is More About The Money Then Anything Else!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here and you know I usually don’t like talking politics, but this story just seemed to pique my interest a bit. In the last couple of days actress and former MMA star Gina Carano has found herself in a bit of a pickle concerning some of her Instagram posts, specifically ones that were posted (and subsequently deleted) this last Tuesday.

I haven’t gotten a chance to read the posts myself, but apparently Miss Carano leans heavily toward the right and has repeatedly questioned the validity of mask wearing, the outcome of the election, and so on and so forth. Her most egregious post compared the current political climate to that of the plight of Jews in Nazi Germany. For these posts she was subsequently fired by Disney from her role on the popular show “The Mandalorian” and even dropped by her talent agency. Ouch!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at two new releases that would normally be making their way to the cineplex but due to current circumstances are available on a couple of the more prominent streaming sites. First we’ll start with “Da 5 Bloods” Spike Lee’s latest about the bonds of four soldiers who served in the Vietnam War.
