Bruce Willis

The Kenblog: Honoring The Work Of Bruce Willis!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some sad news. Prolific actor Bruce Willis, one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood, is retiring from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia, a neurological disease that impairs cognitive function. Willis is apparent having trouble with communication and memory, among other issues and while there is no known cure, I hope that treatments will allow Mr. Willis to find peace and enjoyment during the rest of his life. I know he has a large and loving family, so he will not be venturing into the unknown alone. Instead of treading over familiar ground involving his diagnosis, I though it more appropriate to honor his work over the years by providing clips of some of his best known roles. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do and, as always, feel free to comment below or on my Facebook Page. All the best to Mr. Willis and his family. So Sayeth The Kendog!

The Kenblog: The Classic Casting Overreaction. . .Nicole Kidman As Lucy!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with another edition of the Kenblog. In this edition we’re talking about classic casting controversies that turned out to be not so controverial after all. It’s actually more about the over-the-top reactions to said casting decisions, most of them made without even seeing anything but a photo of the actor in question. I bring this up because there seems to be something of an uproar concerning the casting of Nicole Kidman as Lucille Ball in the upcoming Aaron Sorkin film “Being The Ricardos.” Apparently it’s a bit jarring (or blasphemous, heh) to have an Australian actress play the beloved Lucille Ball. For the life of me I don’t know why.

Dog’s Movie House: “Glass” A Little More Than Half Full!

Howdy Folks!  It’s The Kendog with a look at M. Night Shyamalan’s “Glass”, the final film in a trilogy that began with “Unbreakable” way back in 2000.

Samuel L. Jackson Returns As Mr. Glass In The Thriller “Glass”

Shyamalan is a talented filmmaker who is a bit hit or miss with me.  I enjoyed “Split,” the second film in the series but was a little cool on the pacing and sudden ending of “Unbreakable.”  For me “Glass” falls somewhere in the middle.

The Trailer Dog Park: “Pacific Rim 2,” “Death Wish” Remake!

Howdy Folks!  It’s The Kendog!

The Jaegers are back in “Pacific Rim 2”

I was one of the few who really loved “Pacific Rim.”  It wasn’t the greatest film in the world, but watching giant robots beat the hell of equally gigantic monsters really appeals to my inner ten-year-old.   Fortunately it made enough money overseas to warrant a sequel and now the first trailer is here promising more robot bashing goodness.  Also included is Eli Roth’s update of the vigilante thriller “Death Wish” starring Bruce Willis.  I hope the film is better than the trailer which seems to embrace the goofy aesthetic of Charles Bronson’s later “Death Wish” entries rather than the rather sobering nature of the first film.  The script is by Joe Carnahan, so I’m willing to give it a shot.  Enjoy the trailers and feel free to comment below!  So Sayeth The Kendog!  Continue reading
