Dog’s Movie House: “Interceptor” Interesting, If Flawed, Netflix Original!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at Netflix’s latest original film, a thriller called “Interceptor.” There’s a lull in the cinematic storm between the current juggernaut “Top Gun: Maverick” and next week’s new blockbuster, “Jurassic World: Dominion.” So we go for the streaming giant this week with a tale about a sea rig missile base called an “Interceptor” base. This base, we are told, is one of two the U.S. has to shoot down enemy nuclear missiles. Enter a female captain with a past who is forced to fight to keep a group of terrorists from taking control of the platform in order to start World War III. In interesting premise is marred somewhat by spotty acting, some less-than-stellar special effects, and some holes in the script. That said, the movie is engaging enough to keep your attention for most of its less than two hour run time.

Dog’s Movie House: “Memory” A Waste Of Talented Cast And Intriguing Premise!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at yet another Liam Neeson action opus. Remember when Liam Neeson could act? It’s not that he’s lost his talent but ever since “Taken” Neeson has stuck to the angry vigilante with a unique set of skills genre, each succeeding film delivering diminishing returns. This film is no different, a middling effort despite being directed by the guy who successfully rebooted James Bond twice and a solid cast that deserves better than this.

Dog’s Movie House: “Red Notice” Slick But Slight Star Vehicle Featuring Big Time Actors Having A Good Time!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at Netflix’s latest, an action thriller from the guy who brought you “Dodgeball” and “Central Intelligence.” This one’s called “Red Notice” and features the star-studded trio of Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot in a film that’s slickly shot and nicely acted, but slight in terms of story. That said, the actors are having a ball and director Rawson Marshall Thurber has a nicely kinetic style that keeps the film moving at a brisk clip. And since it’s on Netflix, you won’t have to worry about getting your money back if you don’t like it. (But I’m betting you will.)

Dog’s Movie House: “The Jungle Cruise” Good Old Fashioned Fun!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at Disney’s latest attempt to turn one of DIsneyland’s iconic rides into the next big film franchise. This time it’s “The Jungle Cruise” with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt lending their considerable star power to the film. Fortunately “The Jungle Cruise” has more in common with “Pirates Of The Carribean” rather than “The Country Bears” and director Jaume Collet-Serra (“The Shallows”) and his team have crafted a wonderfully entertaining film that honors both the ride as well as some classic adventure films that serve as this particular movie’s inspiration!
