Dog’s Movie House: “The Lion King” Roars With Spectacular Animation!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog with a look at Disney’s reimagining of their 1994 classic “The Lion King”

Simba And The Gang In “The Lion King”

Of the Disney renaissance that began in the late 1980s with “The Little Mermaid” and continued into the 90s, I always found 1994’s “The Lion King” to be somewhat disappointing. The tonal shift from “Hamlet” to “Hakuna Matata” and back again always through me for a loop as did the miscasting of Matthew Broderick as an adult Simba. Imagine my surprise when Jon Favreau’s “live action” update became one of the more enjoyable experiences I’ve had at the theater this summer!

Dog’s Movie House: “The Summer Of Sequels!”

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a very serious question: who else is tired of all the sequels being rammed down our throats this summer?

I’m generally not opposed to sequels or continuing franchise movies but they at least have to look like they’re trying, for goodness sake! I’m happy to report that John Wick Chapter 3 ups the ante even more, delivering a ballet of brutality that has to be seen to be believed.

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog with some sobering news!

Peter Mayhew and his legendary alter-ego Chewbacca

It always sucks when someone you admire dies and especially so when someone dies way too young with so much left to give to the world. This week we had two such legends pass: one a gifted filmmaker in the prime of his career and one a loveable giant of a character actor who was only known for one character (but what a character!)

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog with a look at “Avengers: Endgame!”

Iron Man Returns To Face Thanos In “Avengers: Endgame”

I know it’s been a few days, but I wanted to digest the enormous amount of material onscreen before I gave you my thoughts on one of the biggest movies in the world. As a comic book movie fan, I feel that “Endgame” is the perfect ending to 11 years and twenty-two movies that began with Robert Downy Jr. saying the words “I am Iron Man” back in 2008!
