Dog’s Movie House: “Raya And The Last Dragon” Inspired Disney Magic!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at Disney’s latest streaming release. It’s available on Disney+ right now with the premium charge of $19.99. This means you can watch or download the film anytime you want and if you have a family this purchase is definitely worth it. It’s cheaper than a night out at the movies (which you still can’t do anyway) and “Raya And The Last Dragon” is a wonderful family film with great vocal performances, terrific animation, and a heartstring-tugging story that resonates more than many live action films!

Dog’s Movie House: “Coming 2 America” No Classic, But Sweet In Its Own Right!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at the long awaited sequel to Eddie Murphy’s long-awaited comedy hit “Coming To America.” It took a whopping thirty-three years for this sequel to finally be released and the obvious question is “is it worth the wait.” The answer is. . .sort of. It’s not the train wreck I feared when I first saw the trailers, but it’s never quite as inspired as the first film. “Coming 2 America” also relies a little too heavily on flashbacks from the earlier film to fully step out of its predecessor’s shadow. It’s got a lot of heart, though, and based on that and some good comic performances I can give “Coming 2 America” a solid recommendation.

The Dogcast: Mel Blanc At His Best On His Own Show!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun. In honor of the Tom & Jerry flick making its way to HBO Max today, I thought I’d throw in some classic Mel Blanc. Blanc, of course, didn’t voice Tom & Jerry, but he was the legendary voice of the Warner Brothers cartoons. Not only that, but he was a busy performer on various radio shows, including Jack Benny, Burns & Allen, The Judy Canova Show, and Abbott & Costello. He also had his own show for about a year that was really popular. He had to quit because he was just too busy with other projects. Here are a couple of shows for your listening pleasure. (Trust me, it’s more enjoyable than the new Tom & Jerry movie). Enjoy and feel free to comment here or on my Facebook page. So Sayeth The Kendog!

Dog’s Movie House: “Tom & Jerry” Disappointing Mish-Mash!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at an “update” of a classic MGM cartoon. Director Tim Story (“Ride Along”) has put together a feature length version of the classic Tom & Jerry cartoons. The result is an embarrassing hodge-podge of out dated pop culture references, old rap songs, and human actors struggling with a script that makes none of these performers look good.

The Dogcast: “Nero Wolfe:” An Underappreciated Detective Series!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more weekly old radio fun! One of the more underappreciated series featured the portly detective Nero Wolfe. An incredible well-written series into only lasted 26 episodes between the years 1950 and 1951. I’ve got two for you here from late 1950 for your listening enjoyment. Listen to the banter between Nero (a remarkable Sidney Greenstreet) and his right-hand man Archie Goodwin (played by various talented actors). It’s really good stuff and the mysteries are pretty compelling too. As always, feel free to comment here or on my Facebook page. So Sayeth The Kendog!
