Dog’s Movie House: “Dog” And “Uncharted” Hit At The Multiplex!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at two new releases in theaters this week. The first is “Dog” featuring Channing Tatum as veteran assigned with taking an unruly dog across the country to the funeral of the dog’s owner: a fellow soldier. The next in the cinematic adaptation of the popular video game “Uncharted” in which Tom Holland plays Nathan Drake, a young treasure hunter in search of the lost gold of Magellan. Both films are lightweight, disposable entertainment, but “Dog” carries a bit more emotional weight. And. . .you know, adorable dog!

The Dogcast: A Little Hercule Poirot For Your Old Radio Enjoyment In Honor Of “Death On The Nile!”

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with some more old radio fun. Kenneth Branagh’s “Death On The Nile” has just opened featuring Branagh’s second go as Agatha Christie’s famous detective Hercule Poirot. In honor of this film, I thought it was a fun idea to see Hercule Poirot in old radio form. There was a short series in the forties featuring Harold Huber as Hercule Poirot in which he solved various cases. Unfortunately, “Death On The Nile” is not included but I’ve a couple of radio shows featuring Hercule Poirot at his confident best. Enjoy these classic offerings and as always, feel free to comment below or on my Facebook Page! So Sayeth The Kendog!

The Trailer Dog Park: “Jurassic World: Dominion” “The Lost City” Promise Some Escapist Fun!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog with a couple of fun trailers to a couple of films that promise some serious entertainment! We’re finally getting the Jurassic World: Dominion trailer which is the third in the blockbuster second trilogy of popular dinosaur films that started almost 30 years ago with “Jurassic Park.” Everyone from the previous films is returning and we have some serious dino action. The next is “The Lost City” a comedy with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum that’s a modern riff on “Romancing The Stone” Bullock and Tatum seem to have some terrific comic chemistry and even Brad Pitt show up at some point. Looks funny as hell. Enjoy the trailers and as always, feel free to comment below or on my Facebook Page! So Sayeth The Kendog!

Dog’s Movie House: “Death On The Nile” Agatha Christie Would Be Proud!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at the latest adaptation of a classic Agath Christie whodunnit! This is called “Death On The Nile” and stars Kenneth Branagh as legendary sleuth Hercule Poirot. This is a direct sequel to 2017’s “Murder On The Orient Express” which also starred Branagh. He also steps behind the camera again as director. I thought “Orient Express” was a passable film that suffered a bit from Branagh’s over-the-top performance as Poirot, but I’m pleased to say that “Death On The Nile” features a more nuanced performance from Branagh that gives Poirot some much-needed emotional resonance. The mystery is pretty good too.

Dog’s Movie House: “Moonfall,” “Jackass Forever” Slight Movies With Built In Audience!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at a couple of movies releasing in theaters. First we have Roland Emmerich’s latest disasterpiece (heh, see what I did there) called “Moonfall” a well-made but gleefully stupid bit of science fiction cheese. Then we have the fourth (and allegedly final) film in the 20 year Jackass series, appropriately titled “Jackass Forever” in which Johnny Knoxville and his crew of permanent adolescents throw up a whole slew of new ways to mutilate themselves in the name of humor. Both films are what I like to term “critic proof” as they have their own built-in audiences, but I’m gonna give it a try anyway.
