Dog’s Movie House: “Minions: The Rise Of Gru” Funny Enough But Missing Something!”

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at the latest in the extremely popular “Dispicable Me” Franchise. The films about the not so villainous Gru (Steve Carell) and his pill shaped yellow Minions have garnered a worldwide following and are massively successful. Illumination Studios has found a formula that, at it’s best, reminds one of the classic Looney Tunes cartoons of yesteryear. This new film has some truly inspired pieces but seems to be lacking something from the other films. It’s just not quite as funny as the films that proceeded it.

Dog’s Movie House: “Elvis,” “Black Phone” among the theatrical releases this week!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at the two big releases in theaters this week. In between all the cosmic, dinosaur, and superhero hoopla we have for your viewing pleasure a couple of different films for different audiences. The first is Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” a biopic that sometimes benefits from and is sometimes hurt by Luhrmann’s theatrical excesses. The next is Scott Derrickson’s “Black Phone” a highly anticpated horror film from Blumhouse studios starring Ethan Hawke. Of the two, “Black Phone” is the better picture, but “Elvis” is not without its pleasures despite a myriad of problems.

Dog’s Movie House: “Lightyear” Is Another Pixar Winner And A Whole Different Side Of The Popular Toy Story Character!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at Pixar’s latest, the first to hit the theaters in over two years. (Everything else has gone straight to Disney+). This one’s called “Lightyear” and it’s the story of everyone’s favorite Space Ranger, Buzz Lightyear. It’s actually the film that inspired the famous toy that Andy gets for his birthday at the beginning of the original “Toy Story.” While it doesn’t possess the whimsy of the Toy Story films it’s still a wonderfully entertaining film in it’s own right and could be the start of a whole new series of adventures for Buzz and his gang.

The Dogcast: The Pat Walsh Show- June 10th, 2022!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with another episode of The Dogcast, this time featuring my appearance on the Pat Walsh Show from Friday, June 10th. This week we not only talk movies we also uncover my not-so-secret identity as a grocery clerk and use that, uh, superpower to help you fine folks find bargains during these turbulent economic times. We also hit the humor button as I try to convince Pat to actually see an Adam Sandler movie. “Hustle” is actually a really good flick and Sandler is good in it, but old habits like Sandler-hating die hard. We also review the latest Jurassic World film and talk some other stuff. Enjoy the Pat Walsh Show and remember you can hear me live on The Pat Walsh Show every Friday night from nine to ten in the evening on Newsradio KFBK AM 1530 or 93.1 FM. So Sayeth The Kendog!
