Dog’s Movie House- “Mickey 17” Entertaining Follow-Up Whose Satire Is A Bit On The Nose!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at celebrated South Korean director Bong Joon Ho’s (“Parasite”) latest magnum opus, a science fiction film loaded with satire titled “Mickey 17.” The film tells the tale of Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) a man fleeing a sadistic loan shark who volunteers for a space flight to a planet called Neflheim as an “Expendable.” An Expendable is a person who, with a little help from technology, can be brought back to life, or reprinted, after dying, over and over again. This makes Mickey cheap labor as he literally cannot die permanently. By the time they get to Neflheim Mickey is now at number seventeen. When he survives a near-death experience on the planet, he straggles home to find that Mickey 18 has been printed to replace him, creating the potential disaster of “Multiples” that will result in both Mickey’s being killed. . .permanently!
