Dog’s Movie House: “Fahrenheit 11/9” Shows Moore At His Most Focused!

Howdy Folks!  It’s The Kendog with a look at Michael Moore’s latest: “Fahrenheit 11/9!”

Michael Moore Takes On Donald Trump In “Fahrenheit 11/9”

Now I’m not a fan of our current President.   Donald Trump, in my humble opinion, is a bad president and an even worse human being.  Yet he was duly elected fairly in terms of our political system and, believe it or not, I can live with that.  I do have a hard time with everyone around decrying everything Trump says with fresh outrage as though this were the first time they were hearing Trump speak.   It’s like my granddaddy once said: “What do you expect from a pig but a grunt?”   Trump is who he is, but what surprised me about Michael Moore’s latest doc, “Fahrenheit 11/9” was how much more balanced and focused it was compared to his other agenda-driven works!

Make no mistake, Moore sticks it to Trump as you would expect, but his venom is primarily reserved for the entire political process, a process Moore believes has been made irrelevant by the big money corruption in both political parties.   Everyone gets a shot or two, including Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama, the later of which I have to say I’ve lost a little respect for after watching the way he didn’t handle the water crisis in Flint, Michigan.  The water crisis gets a lot of play here, connected by the fact that the governor of Michigan is a close personal friend of our current President.   The footage is quite compelling and the argument is made that the old guard of politics is directly responsible for the election of Donald Trump to the Oval Office.   It’s a difficult argument to refute.

Not all is doom and gloom as Moore also shines a positive light on the younger generation, particularly the organizational efforts of the Parkland School shooting survivors and the massive marches by the young people all over the country trying to make a difference.  He also focuses on the successful teacher’s strikes in the South that eventually allowed the teachers to get much needed pay raises.

Unfortunately Moore still has a tendency to through a few stunts at the audience.  For example, Moore goes to the Michigan governor’s office to effect a “citizen’s arrest” on the governor for intentionally poisoning the water in Flint, Michigan.  It stalls quickly, although the refusal of the PR guy to drink Flint water is pretty funny.   He also goes to great lengths to compare Trump to Adolph Hitler, at one point having Trump’s voice come out of Hitler’s mouth during archival footage of a Nazi rally.  It kind of undermines the argument that the system is the problem and not our current President.

All in all, though, “Fahrenheit 11/9” is a thought provoking film that both sides of the political aisle should see with an open mind.  It works best when Moore shuts up and let’s the images tell the story.  For me there is no better way to prove a point than to let the pictures speak for themselves.   4 Out Of 5 On Kendog’s Barkometer!   So Sayeth The Kendog!
