Dog’s Movie House: “Avengers: Endgame” Perfect Capper For Marvel Fans!

This review is going to be pretty much spoiler-free because I know you folks haven’t got a chance to see the film yet. I will tell you it deals with the fallout from last year’s “Infinity War” in which the villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) managed to wipe out half of all life in the universe. “Endgame deals with our remaining heroes attempting what’s known as a “time heist” to get the Infinity Stones before Thanos in order to bring everyone back.

Yep, there’s time travel involved folks!

That said, the rules are fairly easy to follow and lead to some of the funniest scenes in any Marvel movie as well as one of the most awe-inspiring superhero smackdowns of all time. As in any film dealing with time travel you will get a permanent ice cream headache if you think about the details too long! (For the record: Ice cream headaches should be caused by ice cream only!!!)

One of the things that these big Marvel team-up movies do so well is weave in incredible character work within the scenes of expensive CGI carnage. Writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeeley have given real emotional weight to these characters, especially the six core Avengers. It helps that the six actors involved give amazing performances. Downey Jr. limits the quips a bit and gives Tony Stark a three dimensional personality that adds thematic gravitas to his overall journey. The same can be said for Chris Evans as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner and his green alter-ego share the screen together for the first time and the results are downright hilarious. And Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner are fabulous together as Black Widow and Hawkeye.

With a cast this big not everyone is going to get a full arc, but the Russo brothers manage to give everyone a chance to shine, including appearances from some characters you wouldn’t expect. The battle scenes and visual effects are astounding as always, but the story and character come first and that’s why these movies are still so popular after eleven years. Comic book movie fans have something to truly rejoice and if you’re not a comic book movie fan, well, there’s always the next Tyler Perry movie, heh!

“Avengers: Endgame” is a crowd pleaser of the highest order! See it at the biggest screen you can! 5 Out Of 5 On Kendog’s Barkometer! So Sayeth The Kendog!
