Dog’s Movie House: “A Working Man” Solid But Unspectacular Statham Vehicle That’s Entertaining Enough, But Nothing Special!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here and I believe that Jason Statham is our generation’s Charles Bronson. Most of Bronson’s career revolved around quick and dirty action films, some pretty damn great, some not so great. But all of them were entertaining and Bronson played a tough guy like almost no one else. Bronson could also branch out and show his wide ranging talents as an actor. Most folks forget that the original “Death Wish” is more of a drama/thriller than an action film. Statham is cut from the same cloth. He’s very versatile as an actor (his comic turn in “Spy” is pure genius) but he knows his wheelhouse: effortlessly cool men with special skills who kick ass in the name of justice. It’s served him well and when he teamed up with director David Ayer for last year’s hit “The Beekeeper” his star power only grew. Now he reteams with Ayer for “A Working Man” featuring Statham as another regular Joe with not so regular skills. Is it well done? Of course. Is it anything we haven’t seen before? Of course not!
