Dog’s Movie House – “One Battle After Another” Timely, Excellent Film About Love In The Face Of Oppression!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film. It’s titled “One Battle After Another” and it is, quite simply, a masterpiece of filmmaking. Anderson, known for such classics as “There Will Be Blood” and “Boogie Nights” has crafted a timely, chilling, compassionate, and thrilling film that takes the current geopolitical situation and sets it as the backdrop of a thrilling, often funny, story about love and family. Featuring terrific performances from Leonardo Dicaprio, Teyana Taylor, Regina Hall, Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, and a terrific turn from up-and-coming star Chase Infinity, “One Battle After Another” will stick in your head long after the final credits roll!

Dog’s Movie House: “Him”A Misfire No Matter Which Pronoun You Use!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here and it’s no secret 2025 has been a banner year for horror films. Everything from “Sinners” to “The Monkey” to “The Long Walk” and so on. So when I heard an announcement that Jordan Peele’s (“Get Out” “Us”) production shingle, Monkey Paw Studios, was putting out a new horror flick set in the world of professional football, I found myself at the very least, intigued. Unfortunately, despite some interesting ideas, “Him” is about as subtle as a sledgehammer when it comes to its messaging and the film suffers from thin characterizations that sabotage a good-looking film!

Radio Daze: “X-Minus One” Gives Dark And Disturbing Tales Of The Future For Some Classic Old Radio Fun!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with another episode of Radio Daze. This Radio Daze features a jumbo edition featuring four episdoes of the popular mid-1950s program “X-Minus One.” “X-Minus One” featured tales written by some of the finest science fiction authors of the time, including Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, and Philip K. Dick. Focusing mostly on fictitious visions of the future involving space travel, aliens, and advanced technology, “X-Minu One” feature great storytelling and wonderful production values. Three of the episodes I have feature technology run amok and early incidents of artificial intelligence. The last one is one of my favorites, and it’s called “Gun For Dinosaur” which is a cautionary tale combining time travel, big game hunting, and dinosaurs. All four episodes are classics, but “Gun For Dinosaur” is my favorite of the bunch. Enjoy! So Sayeth The Kendog!

The Kenblog: Comic Book Movie Fatigue Seems To Be A Real Thing! Can It Be Cured?

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here and I’ve noticed a trend at the movies, especially post-Covid: Comic book movies seem to be winding down in terms of popularity. As a big fan of this sub-genre, I got to thinking about it, wondering about its cause and perhaps some methods of reversing it. Marvel Studios has been the undisputed King Of The Comic Book movie for the better part of two decades, but after the massive success of “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), something happened, and not just the pandemic. I have a couple of ideas on the causes of this Comic Book Movie Fatigue (CBMF) and maybe an idea or two on how to fix it!

The Kenblog: Best Stephen King Adaptations Of All Time!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here and in honor of the release of of “The Long Walk” I thought I would pick out the top Stephen King film adaptations and maybe a couple of flicks that don’t work at all. Stephen King has long been my favorite writer and his works have become part of the American scene. He’s in his seventies and still as prolific as ever (and this is after coming back from being slammed into by a van several years earlier!) King’s style of writing in very cinematic in my humble opinion. When I’m reading a King book, it’s more like the pictures of the story are playing in the cinema of my noggin’ I look forward to everything he puts out and even if it isn’t always up to snuff (The Tommyknockers, anyone?) I still love it! So read on below for my best King film picks!
