Dog’s Movie House: “Troll” Fun Creature Feature From Netflix!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at “Troll” a fun Norweigan monster film by director Roar Uthaug (what a great name). When excavators building a highway tunnel through the Dovre Mountains use explosive to blast the pathway, they accidentally awaken a giant creature thought to be the stuff of legend. The giant troll goes on a rampage, heading for the city of Oslo, and it’s up to paleontologist Nora Tidemann and the Norwegian government to stop the beast’s rampage before it gets to more civilized areas.

Dog’s Movie House: “The Fabelmans” Is Spielberg At His Most Personal!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at Steven Spielberg’s latest, and perhaps, most personal film. It’s called “The Fabelmans” and it’s a fictionalized version of Spielberg’s youth in post-World War II America. It charts the childhood of young Sammy Fabelman (Gabriel Labelle) the only son of Burt and Mitzi Fabelman (Paul Dano And Michelle WIlliams). As a young child he sees his first film, “The Greatest Show On Earth” and he’s absolutely captivated by the spectacle, especially the show stopping trainwreck that highlights the film. That scene in particular both torments and fascinates him and sets young Sammy on a path that leads him to make movies. During the course of his childhood and adolescence Sammy face the challenges of anti-Semitism, moving from state to state as his father continues to change jobs, and the stress of dealing with the spectre of divorce.

Dog’s Movie House: “Violent Night” Destined To Become A Cult Holiday Classic!”

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at a holiday film that’s anything but jolly. (That’s a good thing, by the way!). It’s called “Violent Night” and it’s going to become an instant cult holiday classic in the vein of “Krampus” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” Director Tommy Wirkola and writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller have crafted a Frankenstein’s monster of a film that should be a train wreck but manages to work in just about every possible way. As long as you don’t mind a bit of gore and more than a bit of foul language, then “Violent Night” is going to be right up your alley!

Dog’s Movie House: “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” Just As Good As The First Film!

Howdy Folks! It’s The Kendog here with a look at Rian Johnson’s highly anticipated sequel to his hit 2019 film “Knives Out.” It’s called “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” and I’m happy to say that it’s just as good as the original film. That’s primarily because the only character returning from the first film, Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc, is just as smart and charming this time around as the world’s greatest detective. This time he’s been invited to an eccentric billionaire’s private island to participate in a phony murder that suddenly turns real. As in the first film, there is an impressive ensemble cast of potential killers and victims alike and enough twists and turns to qualify as a typical street in San Francisco. And at the center of it all is Benoit Blanc, the Southern Sherlock Holmes/Columbo hybrid who has become one of the most entertaining onscreen detectives in years.
